Thunderbirds are Go! Again!

Marvelous news, ITV announced today that a live-action new Thunderbirds series is slated for 2015. This is a fitting tribute to Gerry Anderson (creator of Supercar, Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds and Space: 1999), who died just last year, although frankly, I’ll miss not having the puppets. I’m one of the few people who actually enjoyed the 2004 Thunderbirds movie, but it definitely would have been improved with puppets.

Apparently the new show will have 26 half-hour episodes and be shown on ITV and CITV. According to ITV:

Called Thunderbirds Are Go!, the new series will combine CGI animation and live-action model sets, and will ‘affectionately pay tribute’ to the classic show.

The new series will be a co-production between ITV Studios and New Zealand-based Pukeko Pictures, in collaboration with the Weta Workshop, famous for Avatar, King Kong, and Lord Of The Rings.”
