If you’re not familiar with the term, it means the process of taking a well-known movie and recreating it with singularly unimpressive special effects—or in other words, with only the special effects available to the talents and budgets of any pre-schooler. Thus all the cardboard, Scotch tape, poster board and packing peanuts.
The term comes from the movie Be Kind Rewind, where the employees of a video rental store recreate accidentally erased tapes and explain their bizarre nature as having be “sweded”—imported from Sweden.
