I love the Internet
I like the people helping people aspect of it, at least. I couldn’t get my Canon LiDE 70 scanner to work in Yosemite because Apple just sort of dropped TWAIN support and forgot to tell me and Canon sort of forgot about this scanner since OS X Lion.
The scanner would occasionally work but recently the Canon scanning utilities have starting saying that I had no scanner connected. Fortunately I found a blog that suggested what was missing was the TWAINBridge.app and provided an installer for it.
I could never get the CanoScan Toolbox utility to operate the scanner, but that was no great loss. However, the ImageCapture utility now recognizes the scanner and I’m good until Apple releases El Capitan, when I may have to go through this all over again. My seven year old scanner may soon reach the end of the line, but for now, thanks to Jan Egil, I can get by for a little while longer.
